What is a European Handicap (1:0)?
A European Handicap (1:0) is a type of three-way bet where the home team (Team A) is given a one-goal advantage before the match begins.
How Does a European Handicap (1:0) Work?
In a European Handicap (1:0) scenario:
- The home team (Team A) starts with a 1-goal advantage.
- Or it can be said that the away team (Team B) starts with a 1-goal deficit.
- There are three possible betting options:
1️⃣ Handicap 1 (1:0) → You win if the home team does not lose (wins or draws) after applying the 1-goal advantage.
2️⃣ Handicap X (1:0) → You win if the home team loses by exactly 1 goal after the 1-goal advantage is applied.
3️⃣ Handicap 2 (1:0) → You win if the away team wins by 2 or more goals after the 1-goal advantage is applied to Team A’s score.
Example Scenario
Suppose two teams are playing, with Team A (home team) as the favorite and Team B (away team) as the underdog.
If you place a Handicap 1 (1:0) bet:
✅ Team A must not lose (either win or draw) after the 1-goal advantage is applied.
❌ If Team A loses after the 1-goal advantage is applied, your bet loses.
If you place a Handicap X (1:0) bet:
✅ Team A must lose by exactly 1 goal after the 1-goal advantage is applied.
❌ If Team A wins, draws, or loses by more than 1 goal after the 1-goal advantage is applied, your bet loses.
If you place a Handicap 2 (1:0) bet:
✅ Your bet wins if Team B wins by 2 or more goals after the 1-goal advantage is applied to Team A’s score.
❌ If Team A wins or loses by less than 2 goals after the 1-goal advantage is applied, your bet loses.
